The following requirements remain during the pandemic:

An explanation of one's travel insurance coverage, addressing Costa Rica's requirements, must be uploaded or entered into the HEALTH PASS in order to be reviewed and approved by the Costa Rican authorities. If more information on international insurance is needed, the Costa Rican authorities will contact the passenger at the email address indicated in the HEALTH PASS.
    • In the case of international insurance, the tourist must request from their insurer a certification issued in English or Spanish, noting at least three conditions, without forgetting to add it to the HEALTH PASS:
      • Validity of the effective policy during the visit in Costa Rica.

    • If you do not have international insurance, it is possible to opt for travel insurance from Costa Rican companies approved by SUGESE (General Superintendency of Insurance of Costa Rica), which offer their services at Juan Santamar international airports (city of San Jose) and Daniel Oduber Quir's (city of Liberia).

    • Local insurance authorized for travelers can be valued at the following links. If you have doubts or queries about the requirements or conditions of the insurance, please email

All passengers arriving in Peru, irrespective of nationality, have to quarantine for 14 days. This can be in a home or accommodation anywhere in the country, in liaison with the health authorities. When the quarantine is to be completed outside Lima, you must arrive there within 24 hours after arrival in Peru. If upon arrival in Peru you test positive, you will have to self isolate in the Villa Panamericana or any other temporary centre in Lima or in the centres that the regional government assigns. You may end quarantine after 7 days if you take a PCR test on your 6th day in country and the result is negative. If you receive a positive result, you will need to quarantine where the health authorities decide.

Currently, Peru requires inbound international passengers on commercial flights have either a negative real-time COVID-19 molecular (RT-PCR), negative antigen test result, or a medical certificate of epidemiological discharge that is no more than 72 hours old after being issued and before boarding the plane.

Internal Restrictions:

*Travel in Peru: On 15 March 2020, Peru announced a national State of Emergency, which has now been extended until at least 28 February 2021.
